Training in Progress
On April 21, 2026 the Crest Study Group ran a CBCT training session at the DentaSource Direct Training Center in Pasig, led by Dr. Pocholo Loleng. We posted it while it was running rather than afterwards, so the reel is the room as it actually worked.
CBCT is cone beam computed tomography. A single rotation of the scanner around the head produces a volume that software reconstructs into slices, so the jaws can be examined in three dimensions instead of as one flattened image. The scan is not the hard part. Reading it is.
Reading a Scan in a Fixed Order
The session opens with Dr. Loleng at a slide on systematic radiographic reading, and that is the spine of the whole day.
A volume contains far more than the reason it was taken. A clinician who scrolls straight to the tooth in question will find the tooth in question and miss everything else in the field, which is the failure mode every CBCT course exists to prevent. A systematic reading protocol fixes the order: the same anatomy, examined in the same sequence, on every scan, whatever the referral said.
Behind him the trainees are at their stations with slices on the screens, scrolling through their own volumes as the protocol is described. That pairing is the format. Say the step, then do the step, on a real scan, immediately.
What CBCT Adds to a Diagnosis
A periapical film gives a clinician a great deal for very little, and it will keep doing so. What it cannot give is depth. Buccal and lingual anatomy land on top of each other, roots overlap, and a lesion sitting in the third dimension can hide behind the tooth it belongs to.
A volume separates all of that. Root canal anatomy that is invisible on a film, the true relationship between a root apex and the nerve canal, the position of an impacted tooth against the roots beside it, the actual width of bone before an implant is planned: these are the cases where CBCT changes the treatment rather than confirming it.
The cost of that is a larger dose and a much larger amount of information to read responsibly. Which returns the whole thing to the protocol on the slide at the front of the room.
The Room
The rest of the reel is the Training Center itself. The room from the back, with the instructor walking between the stations, and then the DentaSource Direct sign in the lobby.
The format is the same for every course we host. Individual stations, individual screens, and an instructor moving between them rather than standing at a lectern for a day. The Training Center sits at Units 307 and 308, 3rd Floor, Mercedes Square Plaza, Mercedes Avenue corner Luis Street, San Miguel, Pasig City, a short distance from our showroom.
Joining the Next Session
The Crest Study Group runs regularly at the Training Center, and the sessions cover different ground each time. Seats are limited by the number of stations, which is what keeps the format working.
