The Denjoy i-Pexo arrived in stock at our showroom at 610 C. Raymundo Avenue, Maybunga, Pasig City, and we announced it on June 9, 2026. We posted about it twice more, on July 29 and August 30, as dentists asked more specific questions about how it works. This article puts the three posts together.
What an Apex Locator Is For
Working length is the distance from a fixed reference point on the tooth to the end of the canal. Everything in a root canal depends on it. An apex locator measures that distance electronically, by reading the circuit formed between a file inside the canal and a lip hook clipped to the patient.
Estimate it long and the file passes the apex. Estimate it short and part of the canal is never cleaned or filled. Neither shows up while the patient is in the chair, which is exactly why guessing is expensive.

What the i-Pexo Adds
The i-Pexo is the large screen unit in the Denjoy range. The display is a touch screen, so the readings are viewed and the settings changed on the same surface. It rotates automatically between vertical and horizontal, which matters more than it sounds when the unit sits on a crowded bracket table.
Denjoy specifies multi frequency measurement, which is the method that keeps a reading usable in a canal that is wet, dry or partially filled with irrigant. The unit records length automatically, so nothing has to be written down mid procedure, and it offers several display modes for different working preferences.
There is also a special axis holder in the design, which lets the unit sit steady and hands free at the angle you want it. Small thing on a spec sheet, useful thing at 4pm on a long case.
Following the File in Real Time
The part dentists respond to most is the real time monitoring. The i-Pexo tracks the file as it moves through the canal rather than reporting only when it stops, and audible alerts confirm the position without you looking away from the tooth.
That combination, a clear color display plus a sound cue, is what turns the apex locator from a checking device into something used continuously through cleaning and shaping.

Compact Enough for a Working Operatory
The i-Pexo is light and small enough to move between operatories, which suits clinics running more than one chair and buying one unit to start. It is designed for consistent performance case after case rather than for a single showcase measurement.

Why It Matters for a Philippine Clinic
Many general practices in the Philippines do endodontics without a locator, working from radiographs and experience. That is workable, and it also means retreatments that a measurement would have prevented. The cost of a repeated case, in chair time and in confidence, is usually larger than the cost of the instrument.
DentaSource Direct is Denjoy's exclusive Philippine partner. The i-Pexo is on the showroom floor in Pasig, demonstrations are free, and current pricing is on request.
