The Session
On July 26, 2026 the DentaSource Direct Training Center ran a Digital Manipulation and Smile Mockup course together with the Crest Study Group. The Training Center is at Units 307 and 308, 3rd Floor, Mercedes Square Plaza, Mercedes Avenue corner Luis Street, San Miguel, Pasig City.
The course stayed on the practical side of digital smile design. Taking the photographs, working the images, and producing a mockup a patient can actually look at before any treatment begins.
What a Smile Mockup Is
A digital smile mockup is a simulation of the planned result, built over a photograph of the patient's own face and teeth. Tooth proportions, midline, incisal edge position and gingival levels are drawn onto the image and adjusted until the plan reads correctly against the lips and the face.
The point of doing it digitally is that the conversation happens before any preparation. The patient sees a proposal instead of a description, and the clinician keeps a reference to work back from when the case moves to the laboratory.
The Room
The first still is a trainee at a simulator station with a phantom head, which is where the clinical half of a digital case gets rehearsed. The second is the photography corner, a softbox and a working area set up under the DentaSource sign.
Photography is not a side note in this workflow. A mockup is only as good as the images it is built on, so retracted and portrait series, consistent lighting and a repeatable camera position are part of the course rather than an afterthought.
Who It Is For
The session suits general dentists taking on anterior restorative and veneer work, and dental technicians who would rather receive proper planning material from the clinics they serve. Seats are kept few so that every participant gets time at the station instead of watching from the back.
Why It Matters
In a Philippine private clinic, case acceptance usually turns on whether the patient can picture the outcome. A mockup answers that in the consultation rather than in the chair, and it leaves the clinic with a documented plan the whole team can follow.
