Two Chapters, One Screen
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 4:30 PM, the PDA San Pablo City Chapter and the PDA Camarines Norte Chapter held a twinning webinar over Zoom. Twinning is the PDA's word for two chapters pooling a program: one speaker list, one registration, both memberships invited. It lets a chapter in Laguna and a chapter in Bicol fill an afternoon of lectures that neither would run alone.
The program carried 3 CPD units. Registration was ₱500, open until March 16, with payment details inside the registration form.
The Lectures
Dr. Mario Esquillo opened with Radiographic Interpretation, the reading of periapical, bitewing and panoramic films for what a general practitioner needs to catch: caries under restorations, periapical change, bone levels and the incidental findings that need a referral.
Dr. Evalyn Roxas gave two connected lectures. The first, Dealing with HIV in Dental Patients: Oral Health, Issues, Detection and Dental Management, covered the oral signs that can be the first clue to an undiagnosed infection, the precautions that apply to every patient regardless of status, and how treatment planning changes for a patient on antiretroviral therapy. The second, Informing Suspected HIV Dental Patients, took on the harder conversation: how a dentist raises a suspicion with a patient, refers for testing and keeps the patient's trust.
The subject is timely. The Philippines has one of the fastest-growing HIV epidemics in the Asia-Pacific, and the dental chair is often where oral lesions are first seen. A chapter putting two hours on it, for its own members and a partner chapter's, is the kind of continuing education that changes what happens in a clinic the next morning.
